Research In Motion has been slapped with a pair of lawsuits over its recent protracted Email, IM, and Web outage, one on behalf of users in the US and the other on behalf of users in Canada. The US suit, filed yesterday in California, was filed by user Eric Mitchell on behalf of all users who had a service agreement with RIM at the time of the outages—which the suit notes includes 2.4 million people in California alone.

Mitchell accuses RIM of “interfering with his productivity, and causing him damage and loss of money.” The Canadian suit, meanwhile, chides RIM for failing to “take full responsibility for these damages,” or offer customers refunds. The suit accuses RIM of breach of contract, negligence, and unjust enrichment.
